Tips to write an effective blog post like professional
Bloggers regularly communicate with each other. We people usually communicate with our friends, readers, and peers. The sole aim of a blogger is to make the readers understand the idea, accept it and act accordingly.
Writing a blog post is a headache for many, but you can make it more enjoyable if you follow some rules and practice for some time. Bloggers must have to keep writing, either it is a blog post, an email, comment or guest post.
In this post, I’m going to share several points that will help you to write an effective blog post which makes it more useful and reader friendly.
In fact, professional bloggers spend more time on revising a blog post rather than writing a draft post. Nowadays news articles of mega companies polish their articles over and over to make it more effective before they publish.
I would prefer to prepare a list of the articles to be written in a week and publish them according to the schedule.
Readers reaction is the key point of any blog post that is written. So always ask one or two of your peers or friends to examine it and comment on it to get an idea about their perception about your blog post.
How to write an effective blog post: 8 simple ways to follow.
Step 1: What is the purpose of the content?
Being a writer, it is your duty to be clear about the content of your blog post that you write. Make sure that you have included everything you want to convey.
Example: If an author fails to clear their concept and reader fills that gap with their own objectives it will create a valley of the misconception that will increase the gap between you and reader.
Step 2: Who will read it?
The readership of your blog may vary from a newbie to experts. Make sure that the wavelength of your content remains the same for everyone. Also have an idea about the reader’s background (age, lifestyle, occupation and personality) according to it, modulate the blog post, writing technique and language.
Step 3: Stay Focused
While writing a blog post, your word/content must be centric to the message you wants to convey to your readers. If you fail to adjust the focus of content, you will make the same mistake as an amateur photographer does during photography. It is almost impossible to wrap all thoughts in few number of lines. Hence, cover the topics that are a must for the readers.
Make sure that you have clarified the focus of an article in the right beginning of the blog post. This will help you to attack reader’s attention and force them to read a complete blog post without bouncing back. The first paragraph of your blog post must arrest the attention of readers that will keep it up until the end of your content.
Step 4: What should be the content of blog post?
Content is the King !!!
The above phrase has been repeated several times in blogging industry which is a fact that one must accept without a single argument. If your blog is a bird, content is the wings.
- Make sure that your blog post is divided into step-by-steps parts, subparts, and other paragraphs.
- Maintain the flow between every section and paragraphs.
- One must not jumble the different ideas into the same blog post and serve the reader as a single article.
- Ask your colleague to check the effectiveness of the sequence used in the blog post.
Step 5: Structure of Blog Post
Representation of the content to readers, play a vital role to make them glue their attention to your blog. “Inverted Pyramid” is one the famous and widely used style of writing that I would like to recommend for an effective blog post.
The above-mentioned style is famous since past few decades. I’ve seen a similar style of a write-up by bloggers like Brain Jackson, Neil Patel and many more. The primary intention of using this technique is to put the most valuable content of your blog post in the first paragraph then go down according to the priority.
The main aim of using this style of writing is to serve an essential information about the blog post to users before they lose their attention in reading your entire blog post. You have to put the heading, lead topic or central theme in the very first paragraph of content then support it with proper evidence, examples and explanation concerning priority begins with most important.
Step 6: Language of blog post
Let your blog post make the readers understand the content. Always use proper vocabulary and paragraph structures that readers can understand. Words used by specialist are not understandable by newbie due to their lack of vocabulary.
Make sure your blog post terminology is easy to read for everyone. It is a tough settlement for bloggers to make.
Example – Phrase “That house is a very large” indicate its greatness in many terms like “number of family members, Dimensions, Floors, etc.”. Better you mention the dimension that perfectly indicates how large is the house.
Step 7: Tone of the blog post
Not only language but the tone of it matters a lot in a blog post. It is powerful enough to engage or ignore the reader to read a blog post.
You have to differentiate the tone while Writing a blog post for readers, not the same as writing an email to employee and colleagues.
Even the same message to different people may vary. Hence always be polite while writing a blog post for readers.
Example – Wishing a birthday to classmate would be “Hey, Happy Birthday dude” which is a quite informal way to say while writing a blog post you have to be more formal even though your reader base may be your friends.
Step 8: Length of Content
How long should be the length of your blog post be? Answer relies on the above topics of this post “What is the purpose of writing this blog post?”, “What is the subjective?”, “Who will read it and why?”.
Shorter content is always preferable by readers but never miss an essential part of it and break the flow and force the readers to ask for the more information.
Always decide the length of blog post based on the reader’s interest and the source of information you have.
It is a common tip shared by pro bloggers to the newbies that make your blog post more than 600 words, but this should not lead them to use the same words again and again and invite Google for the penalty by stuffing keywords.
Never do that.
Always collect proper information before you being to write a blog post. You can read more tips on “saving words” in my next blog post.
Hope these points will help you to write an effective blog post for the readers that will force them to stick and subscribe to your blog post.
